MY PROJECT took part in the conference IWA Biofilms: Granular sludge conference 2018, organized by Delft University of Technology.

More than 267 specialists from 40 countries took part in the conference. The specialists of MY PROJECT were the only representatives of the industry from the CIS countries.

The conference was devoted to the discussion of the application of aerobic and anaerobic granular sludge during wastewater treatment. Granular sludge over the past 5-10 years has moved from the category of extravagant narrow-purpose technology to the field of mass practical application. The technology offers methods for effective biomass retention, intensification of biological wastewater treatment processes, compliance with ever more stringent standards for the discharge and recovery of valuable water resources. The purpose of the conference is to unite and intensify discussions on several disciplines necessary for understanding this ecosystem: engineers, biotechnologists, microbiologists, chemists, physicists, mathematicians and process innovators. All pioneers, first-years and industry leaders had an opportunity to discuss the state of the granular sludge issue, to visit the operating facilities of the plant with the implemented technology.

 

During the conference, workshops were held on the following topics:

1.  Drivers of granular sludge and biofilm stability
2.  Methods for extraction of exopolymers from granular sludge and biofilms
3.  Continuous processes using granular sludge and biofilms
